Reds Cheung King Wai (張景威)
Born in Hong Kong. Living in Tallinn, Estonia
Reds Cheung is a Hong Kong artist living and studying in Tallinn. Reds studied visual arts at HKBU Academy of Visual Arts and postgraduate visual culture studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Currently studying contemporary art in Estonian Academy of Arts. His practice encompasses drawing, sculpture, installation, often presented as multi-media installations in galleries and public spaces with the creation of new modes of presentation.
Reds believe there is no boundary between art creation and medium but only idea remain in the artist’s limitation. Practising art amount emotional and intellectual ways, exercising different roll in art making. Reds is the core member of artist-run space, 1a space, as an artist, the board of director and curator. Reds’ work is underpinned by an ongoing engagement with subtleties in life and critique on institutions and professionalism.
Beside independent practice in visual arts, Reds is also familiar with teaching and activity organizing in art, with working experience at the art gallery and arts institutions. Specialize in community art, installation art, art pedagogy.
